Dale Cuva is a Nurse Practitioner trained by the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), blending conventional medical expertise with integrative and holistic approaches. A graduate of the University of Tennessee (2016), Dale brings a strong background in psychiatric inpatient care and internal medicine.
Dale’s journey into natural healing began early—at just 14, she was working in a health food store and studying traditional plant medicine under a local Appalachian herbalist. Her graduate research focused on Historic Appalachian Medicine, and she continues to honor these roots by offering practical, locally-based herbal knowledge. If you’re interested in foraging or using native medicinal plants, Dale is always happy to share her insights during your visit.
She holds certifications from the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS) and in Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) under Dr. Shoemaker. Her advanced training also includes the latest in functional medicine testing to uncover root causes related to infectious, genetic, gut health, hormone imbalance, allergies, heavy metals, autoimmunity, and more.
Dale is currently expanding her expertise into Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine and has studied with several renowned herbalists and functional medicine specialists throughout her career. Her practical protocols are designed to offer an array of effective options for all budgets even in resource-limited settings, making functional care accessible to those without insurance or with limited means—a reflection of her deep commitment to the Appalachian communities she has long served.
Her clinical passions include:
- Hormonal imbalances in both men and women
- Complex or “mystery” conditions
- Gastrointestinal, autoimmune, allergies
- Mental health
- Integrative cancer support
Appointments with Dale are available in-person or via telehealth for all Tennessee residents.
