Looking back on my 15 year association with Apple Healthcare, I learned one universal truth about injury and discomfort: it is better to treat the cause than it is to mask the pain.
I have been the fortunate recipient of regenerative medicine, first to HEAL a worn out hip socket and ball and later that year a torn meniscus. A series of Platelet Rich Plasma injections were used to invigorate cells, eliminate inflammation, and regrow damaged tissue.
When you tell someone you recovered from a torn meniscus the inevitable question is “where did you have your surgery?” My answer is “I didn’t go under the knife to cut away damage. I had PRP injections and the before and after x-rays are astounding, my meniscus and knee are perfect”.
When I began experiencing acute pain in my hip and adjoining tendons I went the Western medicine route. I was examined by my primary care physician and told to see a specialist. That resulted in the orthopedic surgeon suggesting pain medicine and we’d replace the hip in a few years. The sports medicine physician said to take pain pills and stop being so active.
Today my hip and knee are 100%, completely healed and strong.
Now I know, “Heal the cause, don’t mask the pain”.
